Well such in the Chopta and Tungnath Temple Trek. Right in the center of Uttarakhand the Chopta and Tungnath temple is one of the most captivating and challenging treks in Uttarakhand. Away from the humdrum city life, the place encompasses the serenity and the beauty of nature which we longed for. Surrounded by rich forest of Oak, deodar and rhododendron variants with flower beds the trek is simply alluring and enthralling.

Perched on an elevation of 2,680 meters Chopta and Tungnath temple trek is one of the most fascinating treks in the Garhwal Himalayan region.

The trek generally starts on early morning i.e. from Chopta to Tugnath and is considered one of the highest temples of Lord Shiva, elevated to a height of 3,680 meters. Out of the Panch kedars, the temple is one of them which is situated in the Chandrashilla Peaks.  As per the mythological reference it is to be believed that Tungnath is one thousand years old. The place holds many significant episodes which is mentioned in the Mahabharata. One of the most interesting things is that this trek can be accessible all over the year and it takes approximately 3 to 6 days to reach the destination. Through this trek one come across the ancient culture of Garhwal Himalaya along with the majestic beauty of nature. Although autumn and winter trek is the most popular season to explore the place.

To start with the trek one must take the Sari route which makes the trek more accessible.  Sari is the base camp for the trek which encloses the picturesque of the view providing much enthue to start of the trip. To reach Sari one must travel from Haridwar which is a eight hour journey.

Next is the trip from Sari to Deoria Tal. Deoria Tal is 3km distance from Sari. The beautiful lake owns the perfection amidst the gigantic snow-capped mountains at its backdrop. During the trek beautiful farmlands, ancient temples are noticed which makes the trip much more exotic and country.

After reaching the Deoria Tal, the next destination is the Chopta. The total distance from Deoria Tal to Chopta is about 14km which takes a 9 hour journey to complete the trek and perhaps one of the important part of the trek. Walking to this trail, you are encountered with best of nature, chirping of birds and ofcourse the gigantic and enchanting mountains which always follow your back and forth. Coming across the Bugyal region is one of the spot where one witness the amusing sunset which soothes the body and mind instantly.

Next is the final spot that is Tungnath temple. This is the trail where you witness the one thousands year Shiva Temple which is elevated on a position of twelve thousand feet. It takes almost 5 hour journey to reach the temple. One trek further to the Chandrashila Peak which is located more 1.5kilometer and an climb of more six hundred feet. Reaching here one finds relevant peaks like Nanda Devi, Trishul, Nanda Ghunti, Kamet, Dunagiri, Chaukhamba, Kedar dome, Thalaysagar, Gangotri ranges, and Jahanukut etc.

The trip is a perfect mixture of adventurous and religious divinity which makes the trip much more enjoyable and to explore more. Nothing but the beauty and the richness of the culture and tradition adds the trip to stand on its own.
